How can exercise help?

Post-Traumatic Stress
There is lots of supporting evidence that shows the benefits of physical activity to help with PTSD and our veterans group class is testimony to this. Exercise has significant benefits for depression, anxiety and stress, and also helps with improving sleep quality. Our group class is highly entertaining and provides the opportunity to build friendships and participate in social events outside of the gym.

Back Pain

Motion is lotion! The mind and body love exercise and it’s extremely important for managing chronic pain. 1 in 5 people are affected by chronic pain to the point that it has a severe impact on their daily life. Exercise helps to lubricate joints and help them move easier.

Nerves and discs in the spine need to move to get the nutrients they need to be healthy. Exercise also releases endorphins, the body’s own pain relieving medication. It’s never too late to start moving. We will be with you every step of the way.

Arthritis

Clinical research has proven that exercise is highly effective in the management of arthritis. Exercise has been found to reduce pain by increasing muscle strength and joint range of motion. It also helps to improve balance and physical function which, all together, leads to a significant improvement on overall wellbeing.

Myotherapy

Myotherapy is a form of physical therapy based on evidence-based assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal pain such as soft tissue pain and restricted joint movement. Myotherapy can be used to prevent and treat a wide range of disorders such as overuse injury (tennis elbow and shin splints), sports injuries, tension headache, pain caused from poor posture, chronic back pain, joint pain and muscle sprains.

Our qualified Myotherapist Dempsey specialises in the treatment and management of muscular injuries and dysfunction. His treatment approach is very effective on tendonitis, muscular tears and tension while aiding to correct poor posture and the negative influence this has on the body.

Dempsey incorporates a variety of techniques to create a treatment plan based on individual assessments that address the specific condition. Techniques range but are not limited to remedial massage, trigger-point therapy, dry needling, myofascial release, cupping and implementation of corrective exercise within treatment plans.

Dempsey has history working with an array of elite athletes, AFL players, power lifting and body building athletes, marathon and endurance athletes to name just a few.

Massage

Remedial massage is a form of massage that is used to assist the body in rehabilitation, pain and injury management. Remedial massage therapists use a systematic approach to assess and treat muscles, tendons, ligaments and connective tissues to help the body return to normal health and reverse certain physical conditions after an injury.

Regular remedial massage can lead to many positive health benefits. Remedial massage can help to correct issues in your body such as injury, postural and joint issues. It can also improve circulation, reduce pain and encourage wellbeing. Remedial massage can also help to reduce stress and anxiety through the release of endorphins, and the reduction of stress inducing hormones such as norepinephrine, adrenaline and cortisol. This leads to better immune function, as it is able to work more effectively without impairment from stress hormones.

Remedial massage can also help to heighten mental awareness through releasing stress in the body, release muscle tension and pain and increase joint mobility through reducing stiffness. Finally remedial massage can improve posture by lengthening and reducing the stiffness in muscles, improve skin tone through increased circulation and reduced tension and eliminate vicious cycle complaints by eliminating the true cause of the issue.

Our qualified Remedial Massage Therapist, Dempsey has spent more than four years working in Melbourne. He specialises in the treatment and management of muscular injuries and dysfunction. His treatment approach is very effective on tendonitis, muscular tears and tension while aiding to correct poor posture and the negative influence this has on the body.
